power outage

This week we have thought a lot about the 80's love song, "Don't know what you've got until it's gone." We are so thankful to have our power back. It is so easy to take all of our modern conveniences for granted. We are also so thankful for some of our dear friends who housed us during our power outage. They were one of the few families in the city who didn't lose power.
The kids were intrigued by all of the changes..."why is the refridgerator dark inside? why can't we watch cartoons? why can't I have oatmeal?" etc. They handled it all great and were excited to have a sleep over at the Yates' house.

First home game at ASU!

We attended the first home game of the ASU season.  They introduced the new mascot, "Howl". ASU changed from the Indians to the Red Wolves this summer.  The kids had a ball at the game!

lunchtime prayers & conversation

Laughing at the idea that mommy was once a college student.  (that is not really what this picture is, but I thought it fit)!

Today Harrison prayed a very thankful prayer listing lots of things he was glad to have...shoes so he can go to the mall, toys, food, etc.  Then he prayed:  "thank you for my rescue heroes, thank you for daddy's work stuff, thank you for Anna Claire's dolls, thank you for Abigail's toys and thank you for mommy's.....purse.  I guess my purse is pretty important.  It holds my keys, phone, money, Abigail's diapers and toys and various other things :-).
After his somewhat lengthy prayer, Anna Claire said, "now let's eat!!"
Later I was telling them about something that had happened after I graduated from college.  Harrison exclaimed, " mom, you were never a college student!"  He had the funniest look on his face, like I must be in some dream world or something.
They have been playing together so great all day today.  That is something for which I am very thankful.

Up at 2am

What a crazy night (so far).  Actually went to bed at a decent 11 pm.  At 12:30 Harrison wakes up & wants to sleep in our bed.  He never does this.  Ten minutes later, Anna Claire falls out of bed.  Once everyone is settled back in and we are asleep again, I wake up to an alarm going off.  I jump out of bed and discover it coming from Abigail's room.  One of our travel clocks is in there.  Amazingly she sleeps through it!   Just a bit later Harrison wants in our bed again.  I get ready to go get in his bed and gets sick! Bless his heart. Hopefully it's all out of him now.  anyhow, I am afraid to go back to sleep or something else may happen!!
